Blister packaging is a commonly used packaging form for pharmaceutical products. The two parts of the hard sheet and the aluminum foil are heat-sealed together to form a closed space that can accommodate medicines. The blister pack has a good protective effect on the medicine, whether it is in the storage process of the medicine or after it is taken out of a part of the medicine.
Aluminum foil for blister packaging is a sealing material sealed on a rigid sheet of pharmaceutical plastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Aluminum foil is made of electrolytic aluminum with a purity of 99% and is made by rolling. It is non-toxic, tasteless and of excellent electrical conductivity, extremely high moisture resistance, gas barrier properties and taste retention.
Pinhole of aluminum foil
Pinhole is a key indicator for evaluating the quality of aluminum foil, which mainly affects the barrier properties of packaging materials, and is particularly important for medicinal aluminum foils. Pinholes are a defect that is difficult to avoid in the process of aluminum foil processing.
According to the results of the water vapor transmission test on the pinhole-containing area of the pharmaceutical aluminum foil, it can be proved that the small pinhole (≤0.2mm) has a negligible effect on the water vapor barrier of the medicinal aluminum foil.
We usually use triplenometers (moisture permeability meter, air permeability meter, oxygen permeability meter) to detect pinhole degree.
Elongation
When pharmaceutical flexible packaging made of aluminum foil is heat-sealed, the aluminum foil layer must withstand the combined force of the pulling and shearing process. Smaller elongation means the foil is "brittle" and breaks easily. The detection of the elongation of aluminum foil is carried out on the tensile testing machine.
Surface tension
Gravure printing is inseparable from the surface tension of aluminum foil and ink. Rolling oil is used in the processing of aluminum foil, and the residual rolling oil is the main factor causing the low surface tension of aluminum foil.
For the light gauge aluminum foil, due to the process and characteristics of the soft aluminum foil, the surface tension is high, and generally there will not be too many problems.
