What Is Thin Gauge Aluminum Foil

Publish: Modify: Oct 31, 2023Author: From:  Haomei

The thin gauge aluminum foil is is an aluminum foil with thickness of 0. 01mm-0.1mm. It is widely used in food, medicine, cigarette packaging, etc. What will affect its quality? Learn more.

The choice of aluminum foil thickness mainly depends on the purpose for which it is used. Generally speaking, the thickness of aluminum foil paper is between 0.01mm and 0.2mm. Therefore, when selecting the thickness of aluminum foil paper, the specific thickness needs to be determined according to the needs of the actual application to achieve the best effect.

The thin gauge aluminum foil is is an aluminum foil with thickness of 0. 01mm-0.1mm. It is widely used in food packaging, cigarette packaging, electronic optical foil, pharmaceutical packaging, electronic circuit signal shielding, air conditioning foil, etc.

The most common aluminum foil is 8011, 8021 and 8079. Aluminum foil has a wide range of applications after processing, such as beer labels, cables, pharmaceutical packaging, household foil food packaging, bottle cap materials, heat sealing foil, etc. It can be seen almost everywhere in daily life. Especially after the composite processing of aluminum foil and paper, the packaging performance of 8 series aluminum foil is further improved.

The largest amount of aluminum used in cigarette packaging is aluminum foil lining paper. Aluminum foil lining paper is a composite paper of tissue paper and aluminum foil. The thickness of aluminum foil is 0.006mm to 0.007mm. Aluminum foil with a thickness of 0.006mm is generally used. The aluminum foil in cigarette packaging plays an important role in preserving flavor and preventing moisture.

Difficulty controlling thickness error is a feature of aluminum foil rolling. A 3% thickness difference is not difficult to control in aluminum sheet production, but is more difficult to control in aluminum foil production. As the thickness of the aluminum foil decreases, its trace conditions can have an impact, such as temperature, oil film, oil and gas concentration, etc. Therefore, many conditions need to be used to ensure that the thickness difference of the aluminum foil is truly controlled within 3%.

When other process conditions are the same, the low rolling speed and thin oil film between the rolls can make the aluminum foil surface closer to the roll surface, and the rolled aluminum foil has good brightness. The higher the rolling speed, the thicker the oil film between the rolls, and the worse the surface brightness of the rolled foil.

Therefore, in the non-finished product passes, high-speed rolling should be used to improve productivity, but when producing finished foils like 25 micron aluminum foil, low-speed rolling should be used and the post-tension should be appropriately increased.
